Job Description

The ideal candidate would have a passion for working with young children in this Waldorf early childhood setting. The role of the teacher assistant is to support and assist with the daily activities of the early childhood program. The responsibilities include providing a high quality of care for young children, cooking, gardening and creative activities, supervising play indoors and outdoors, and caring for children during rest time. Applicants will need to be able to be outdoors with children in varying weather conditions, walking, playing, and engaging in movement activities. 00 Compensation Hourly pay begins at $16.50 and increases to $27.00 based on years of relevant experience. Benefits include employer contributions to health and dental plans short-term and long-term disability insurance, sick time, personal time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supports and assists the daily activities of the EC kindergarten program to ensure a high quality of care, including facilitating daily snack, free play, creative activities, and rest time. Outdoor play supervision and work. Caring for the physical needs of the children
  • including meals, dressing and hygiene, rest time.
Helping at rest and dismissal times. Cleaning the classroom spaces. Reports all issues or concerns to the teacher. Advises and informs the teacher regarding any needs or issues such as health, safety, or conflicts related to organizing or managing the program section. Works with teacher or Lower School Chair to review the performance of or issues with colleagues. Reviews the program together with the teacher at the end of the school year to inform the program for the next year. Ensures each day that space used is clean and organized for the next day. The assistant will strive to provide a quality experience for the students that reflects Hartsbrook's philosophy and values, including actively implementing principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. Qualifications Experience with teaching or childcare programs and working with a diverse group of children An interest in Waldorf education A solid understanding of the needs of children of varied ages Enjoys working with students Enjoys working outdoors A commitment to social justice A capacity to work well in a collaborative setting Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Allergy/Epi-Pen training Completion of required compliance trainings, e.g. mandated reporting, bullying prevention Ability to pass CORI check and fingerprinting The Hartsbrook School is committed to enhancing diversity and equity in education and employment.
