Who We Are Monarch Preschool College Park is an affiliate of The Children's Guild and TranZed Alliance — one of the most experienced child-serving nonprofit organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Located in Prince George's County, Maryland, our preschool provides a nurturing, play-based, and trauma-informed early childhood experience for children ages 3-5, including those with diverse developmental and learning needs. The Opportunity As a Lead Preschool Teacher , you will be the heart of your classroom — creating a safe, joyful, and developmentally rich environment where young children can explore, discover, and grow.
You will:
Plan and deliver engaging, play-based, and developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Maryland Early Learning Standards Create a warm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the social-emotional development of all learners Support children with diverse developmental needs, including those with IEPs, through individualized instruction and accommodations Observe and document child development, progress, and learning to inform instruction and communicate with families Build strong, trust-based relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and family engagement activities Collaborate with assistant teachers, special educators, therapists, and support staff as part of the classroom team Implement trauma-informed, culturally responsive teaching practices that honor each child's background and experience Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized classroom environment in compliance with Maryland Child Care Administration licensing requirements Participate in team meetings, professional development, and program-wide initiatives Qualifications What We're Looking For ✔ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (required) ✔ Maryland Child Care credential or CDA (Child Development Associate) certification preferred ✔ Experience working with children ages 3-5 in a preschool, childcare, or early childhood setting ✔ Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, play-based learning, and early childhood best practices ✔ Familiarity with IEPs, early intervention, and IDEA Part B (preferred) ✔ Warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children ✔ Strong communication and family engagement skills ✔ Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire ✔ Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply Why Monarch Preschool College Park?
