Job Description

The School House Learning Center, LLC is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher to join our team! This position will work primarily with our 3-4 year old preschoolers in a warm, hands-on classroom environment. At The School House, we believe children learn best through play, meaningful relationships, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to explore. We are looking for an educator who genuinely enjoys working with young children and wants to help them grow, learn, and become confident, capable learners. We're looking for someone who: Enjoys working with children Is warm, patient, dependable, and engaged Builds strong, respectful relationships with children and families Enjoys getting involved in play, exploration, and hands-on learning Is creative and comfortable following children's interests Uses positive, developmentally-appropriate guidance Encourages independence, confidence, communication, and problem-solving Communicates respectfully with families and coworkers Is a supportive, collaborative team member Takes pride in creating a safe, welcoming, and intentional classroom As a Preschool Teacher, you will: Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences Build lessons around our weekly curriculum themes while incorporating the interests, skills, and abilities of the children in your classroom Create hands-on opportunities for children to explore, create, investigate, and problem-solve Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, fine-motor, and gross-motor development Provide daily opportunities for outdoor play, movement, sensory exploration, creativity, and active learning Use positive guidance through connection, modeling, choices, redirection, and problem-solving Communicate thoughtfully with families about their child's experiences, interests, accomplishments, and development Work collaboratively with your teaching team and administration Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom Why The School House? Our teachers are both caregivers and educators, and are encouraged to follow children's interests and turn their curiosity into meaningful learning. Our teachers have access to two natural playgrounds, an indoor gym, learning liibrary, sensory experiences, art, music and movement, and a kitchen teachable space, providing opportunities to make learning engaging and fun! We are a supportive, collaborative team committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, valued, supported, and excited to learn.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred Early childhood education coursework, degree, or relevant training preferred Must meet all Maine childcare licensing requirements Must complete required background checks and fingerprinting Must maintain required CPR/First Aid and other required training Dependable, punctual, and reliable Able to work collaboratively with teachers and administration
Compensation & Schedule:
$18-$22/hour, depending on education and experience 36-40 hours per week Monday-Friday. No weekends, no holidays.
