A.C.C. Child Care Academy is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly qualified Lead Teacher to provide high-quality early childhood education through the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). The Lead Teacher will create a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the social-emotional, physical, and academic development of young children. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic early childhood educator who values family partnerships, collaboration, and developmentally appropriate practices and is committed to helping every child enter kindergarten ready to learn and succeed. Responsibilities Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with GSRP requirements and early childhood standards. Establish a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment. Support children's social-emotional development, language and communication skills, early literacy, mathematics, science, and physical development. Use observations, assessments, and child data to individualize instruction and monitor student progress. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families. Communicate regularly with families regarding children's development, progress, and classroom experiences. Collaborate with assistant teachers, teaching teams, specialists, administrators, and community partners. Participate in individualized planning and support for children with diverse developmental and educational needs. Maintain accurate student records, documentation, assessments, and required program data. Follow GSRP, Michigan Department of Education, Wayne RESA, licensing, health, safety, and program requirements. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, conferences, and other required program activities. Promote an environment that respects and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and experiences of children and families. Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood
- General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth
- K or PK
- 3 endorsement; or a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching.
The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education. Proven experience working with children in preschool and childcare settings, with a strong background in early childhood education. Demonstrated expertise in HighScope curriculum, lesson planning, classroom management, and behavior management techniques. Knowledge of literacy education best practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, staff, and community partners. Ability to implement classroom activities that support childhood development milestones.
