Lead Preschool Teacher - Full Time Building Blocks Childcare & Preschool CenterSaginaw, Michigan Position Summary Building Blocks Childcare & Preschool Center is seeking an experienced, caring, and dependable Lead Preschool Teacher. This full-time position is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, structured, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. The ideal candidate understands early childhood development, can effectively lead a classroom, and is committed to preparing children for kindergarten while supporting their academic, physical, social-emotional, language, and cognitive development. Primary Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate preschool lessons and learning activities. Create engaging experiences that support early literacy, mathematics, science, creativity, movement, and social-emotional development. Establish consistent classroom routines and smooth transitions throughout the day. Prepare weekly lesson plans, classroom materials, and learning centers. Maintain a safe, nurturing, clean, organized, and inclusive classroom. Supervise children closely and maintain required staff-to-child ratios. Use positive guidance, redirection, and developmentally appropriate behavior-management practices. Observe and document each child's development, progress, strengths, and areas of need. Maintain accurate attendance, classroom, assessment, and incident records. Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress, behavior, development, and daily experiences. Lead, support, and provide direction to classroom aides and assistant teachers. Encourage independence, problem-solving, positive relationships, and school-readiness skills. Follow all childcare licensing rules, center policies, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Participate in staff meetings, required training, and professional-development activities. Report injuries, illnesses, developmental concerns, and unusual incidents to the director. Help maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for children, families, and staff. Required Qualifications Current Child Development Associate credential (CDA required), with a Preschool endorsement preferred. Previous professional experience working with preschool-aged children is required. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of early childhood development, lesson planning, classroom management, and school-readiness practices. Ability to lead a classroom and work cooperatively with other staff members. Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills. Must successfully complete all required background checks and health clearances. Must obtain or maintain required CPR, First Aid, and childcare training. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, stand, walk, and move quickly when necessary. Ability to safely supervise children indoors and outdoors. Position Type Full-time position. Availability is required during the center's operating hours, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The employee's specific work schedule will be assigned by management.
