ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Implementing and following LARA state regulations to maintain a safe and loving environment. Participate in staff meetings, center and YMCA activities. Completes required 24 hours per calendar year in early childhood developmental trainings. Assist lead teacher with documenting a child's growth and development throughout the school year. Maintain a well-organized, free of clutter, safe and attractive classroom that focuses on optimal growth and development of children. Enforcing positive reinforcement with students when behavior issues arise. Basic computer skills are beneficial. Develop a positive relationship with children and families. Assisting lead teacher with changing out books, toys and dramatic play areas weekly to go along with your themes. Taking care of and using supplies wisely. This includes minimum number of color copies, utilizing scrap paper when able, making sure markers' lids are tight, putting extra paint back in container, etc. Perform other duties and tasks required or assigned. Keep track of supplies and fill out supply requests as we run low. Any information about a child is kept inside the classroom between the teachers and the preschool director. It is not good practice to talk about your student's behaviors or personal information with other staff. Doing this will result in a written warning. A second offense can lead to termination. Time outs are not permitted; our focus is positive re-direction. Engagement with children is required Phone use is not permitted in preschool. Your phone must be stored with your personal belongings and be on silent.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 19 years old Certification in both Infant/Child CPR and first aid. Live-scan Fingerprinting and background checks. Must attend training in child abuse prevention and Blood borne pathogens. Experience working with children is preferred.
