Job Description
Small World Learning Center is hiring a full-time Assistant Director for our childcare center in Chanhassen, MN. This role is a growth opportunity for a strong Lead Teacher or experienced early childhood professional who is ready to step into leadership and expand their career in childcare management. Prior Assistant Director experience is not required — training and support will be provided. For over 25 years, Small World Learning Center has been committed to providing high-quality early education in a structured, diverse, and nurturing environment. We are seeking a motivated, organized, and dependable team member who is eager to grow into a leadership role, support teachers, and learn the operational and licensing side of running a successful childcare center. This position is ideal for someone who: Is ready to move beyond the classroom Wants to grow into leadership and management Is interested in learning staffing, licensing, and operations Values mentorship, structure, and professional development Key Responsibilities Support the Director with daily childcare center operations Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and training Help manage staffing, scheduling, and ratio management Maintain childcare licensing compliance and DHS documentation Support curriculum implementation and classroom quality Communicate professionally with parents and staff Step in as acting leader when the Director is out of the building Qualifications Previous Assistant Director or daycare management experience is not required — this role is designed as a leadership growth opportunity Must meet Lead Teacher qualifications Strong organizational, communication, and emerging leadership skills Experience supporting staff, assisting with schedules, or helping with enrollment is a plus, but not required What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based bonuses Medical & Dental Benefits Paid time off 401(k) Established systems and operational support Career growth opportunities within a long-standing childcare organization
