POSITION SUMMARY
Develop and implement early childhood and parent-child activities in cooperation with other team members for Early Childhood Family Education classes.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate early childhood and parent/child activities in the classroom. Plan and implement curriculum based on Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. Conduct student observations and assessment. Assist in planning and supervising field trips and special events when needed. Cooperatively team with the parent educator and paraprofessional during the parent/child time. Plan family-focused curriculum with team members. Serve as a model for parent/child interaction. Maintain a stimulating, healthy, and clean classroom environment. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, children, support staff, and the Site Coordinator. Provide daily guidance and direction to paraprofessionals by communicating duties verbally and in writing, and by posting duties in the classroom. Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, and process requests with the Site Coordinator. Instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated, including evenings and weekends. Perform evaluation of the classes and activities with other staff members and parents. Participate in program development and evaluation as requested. Attend staff and site meetings as required. Assist in the identification and referral of children with special needs. Keep informed of current trends in the ECFE field through in-service training. Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES
):
Required:
Current Minnesota licensure in Early Education. Training or experience teaching in an early childhood program. Experience developing, modifying, and implementing curriculum and learning environments for children from Birth to 5 Years and their parents. Group leadership skills for parent and/or child groups. Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability and desire to teach under the team concept. Training or experience using observation based assessment tools. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email and Microsoft Word. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
