A Preschool or Childcare Teacher works with young children, usually ages 3 - 5, to help them learn the social, motor and language skills needed to be ready for kindergarten and elementary school. Organizes activities and uses play or games to help children learn; develops schedules and routines for children that include exercise and rest. Works in a school or in a childcare center or program.
The Infant Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where infants can grow, learn, and thrive. This position requires a caring, dependable individual who understands early childhood development, can recognize and assess developmental milestones, and creates meaningful learning experiences through responsive caregiving and intentional play. Strong communication with families and teamwork with coworkers are essential to the success of this role. Essential Responsibilities Provide attentive, loving care that meets each infant's individual physical, emotional, and developmental needs. Observe, assess, and document developmental milestones, communicating progress and any concerns with families and administration. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that encourage cognitive, language, social-emotional, sensory, and motor development. Engage with infants throughout the day through talking, reading, singing, tummy time, sensory exploration, and purposeful play. Adapt daily routines and activities to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each child. Think on your feet and respond calmly and appropriately to changing situations, while maintaining a positive learning environment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom that meets all licensing and health regulations. Follow safe sleep practices, diapering procedures, feeding schedules, and sanitation guidelines. Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents through daily communication, updates, and professionalism. Work collaboratively with coworkers to ensure smooth classroom operations and provide support throughout the center as needed. Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, feeding logs, diapering, naps, and developmental observations. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Uphold the mission, values, and policies of Centenary Preschool and Early Learning Center. Qualifications Experience working with infants in a childcare or early childhood setting preferred. Knowledge of infant development and developmental milestones. Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Strong observation, organization, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with both families and coworkers. Ability to remain patient, flexible, and calm in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in all aspects of infant care.
