Job Description
The College of Education and Human Development is seeking to hire an Educator-In-Residence Early Childhood Coach. The selected individual for the Early Childhood Coach position must provide documentation (via resume) of the following criteria: 1) Documented experience in early childhood or related field. 2) Experience facilitating adult learning specific to early childhood education (e.g., professional development feedback / surveys, letters from participants, etc.). 3) Experience mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback about instruction to classroom teachers. 4) Experience leading others in a collaborative process. The Educator-in-Residence Early Childhood Coaches will work directly with the Mississippi Department of Education to assist with the implementation and coordination of the Early Learning Collaborative and State Invested Pre-K programs. The Early Childhood Coach will provide a non-threatening, open, professional, collaborative work relationship while modeling effective early childhood teaching and family engagement strategies and support, and conduct training for pre-k teachers and administrators in schools, Head Start centers, and child care centers. Coaches will develop an effective working relationship with program personnel, school- based and MDE coaches, principals, administrators, and teachers. Coaches also work with I administrators to effectively identify the needs of assigned programs to prioritize, schedule, organize, and provide technical assistance so that children in assigned programs become ready for kindergarten entry. Coaches will 1) document classroom needs within a web-based early learning system to develop quality improvement plans. 2) communicate the impact of developmentally appropriate practices. 3) support the utilization of the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool to effectively ensure school success. 4) complete training successfully and reach reliability of the CLASS tool. 5) submit travel documents at the request of MDE. 6) participate in mid-year and end-of-year performance evaluations. Performs other duties assigned. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Education. Three (3) years of experience providing on-site technical assistance to early childhood classrooms. Three (3) years of experience in the classroom as an educator working with children birth second grade.
