Job Description

As a Preschool Teacher at North Asheville Preschool you are responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role includes planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, establishing consistent routines, and effectively managing the classroom to support each child's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning & Instruction Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development Plan engaging, hands-on activities that encourage exploration and creativity Classroom Management Create and maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment Set clear expectations and use consistent, developmentally appropriate guidance strategies Foster independence, cooperation, and problem-solving skills in children Ensure classroom safety at all times Routines & Daily Structure Establish and maintain predictable daily routines (arrival, circle time, meals, rest, play, dismissal) Support smooth transitions between activities Help children develop self-help skills such as toileting, handwashing, and cleaning up Time Management & Organization Effectively manage the daily schedule to balance structured activities and free play Prepare materials in advance to ensure smooth classroom flow Keep the classroom organized, clean, and well-stocked Communication & Collaboration Communicate regularly with families about their child's preschool experiences Work collaboratively with co-teachers and staff to ensure consistency and support Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development Additional Duties Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and general program needs
Qualifications:
Experience working with young children (preschool age preferred) Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills Ability to be patient, flexible, and nurturing

$18.25 - $21.00 per hour
