This is a 12-month, full-time position working with children approximately 15 months to 2+yrs. The position may be structured as a co-lead role with another teacher, depending on classroom needs and staffing. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with young children, enjoys creating a warm and respectful classroom environment, and is eager to take on increasing responsibility within a Montessori setting. Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the classroom teaching team to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young toddlers. Support the daily operation of the classroom, including routines, transitions, meals, diapering/toileting, naps, and outdoor time. Help create and maintain a prepared, orderly, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Engage children in age-appropriate activities and experiences that support their independence, development, and emerging skills. Observe and respond to children's individual needs, interests, and developmental stages. Foster positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Support positive guidance and classroom management strategies appropriate for young toddlers. Communicate professionally and collaboratively with families and staff. Assist with classroom organization, cleaning, and maintaining materials and the prepared environment. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as needed. Take an active role in the classroom and work toward assuming greater leadership responsibilities as appropriate. Assist with the school's After Care program as needed, including supervising and engaging children, supporting activities and transitions, and helping maintain a safe and positive environment. Schedule Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM; 12-month, full-time position Qualifications Experience working with young children, particularly young toddlers, strongly preferred. A genuine interest in Montessori philosophy and a willingness to learn and grow within a Montessori environment. Warm, patient, nurturing, and responsive approach to working with young children. Dependable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional and positive demeanor. Ability to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating closely with a co-lead and classroom team. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler Development, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience working with infants/toddlers in a licensed childcare or early learning setting strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of young toddler development, caregiving routines, and age-appropriate practices. A calm, patient, and compassionate demeanor, with a genuine love for working with infants/toddlers. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with families and team members. Ability to maintain a warm, engaging, and organized classroom environment. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Willingness to complete all necessary state-required paperwork, including a criminal background check and fingerprinting. Physical Requirements This position involves regular, hands-on interaction with young children and requires the ability to: Lift up to 40 pounds in connection with the handling and care of children. Sit and work on the floor at children's level. Walk, stand, squat, kneel, bend, and engage in physical activities with children. Remain active and on your feet for extended periods of time.
