Early Childhood Teacher The Village Development Center, LLC - 2.7 South Orange, NJ Job Details Full-time From $66,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications School experience Teamwork Teaching Certification Early childhood education Public school experience Education Bachelor's degree Working with students Full Job Description Early Childhood Teacher NJ Universal Preschool In collaboration with the South Orange- Maplewood School District, we are seeking P-3 Certified Teachers for our New Jersey Universal Preschool (UPK) program who will be responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and high-quality early childhood learning environment for children ages 3-5. The teacher supports the cognitive, social-emotional, language, physical, and academic development of preschool children while implementing curriculum aligned with the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.
Responsibilities:
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities that are in alignment with: NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards, District-approved curriculum frameworks, Creative Curriculum, Tools of the Mind, or other approved instructional models. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including dual language learners and students with special needs. Facilitate hands-on, play-based learning experiences that encourage inquiry, problem-solving, independence, and collaboration. Utilize Teaching Strategies GOLD or other approved assessment systems to document and monitor student progress. Maintain accurate and timely records of student development and learning outcomes. Implement positive classroom management techniques that support social-emotional growth and self-regulation. Encourage family involvement through conferences, workshops, classroom activities, and school events. Provide families with resources and strategies to support learning at home. Maintain compliance with all NJDOE preschool program regulations, district policies, and licensing requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate with Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Endorsement, which includes the following: Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE) or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice At least two years of experience working in Universal Preschool, Head Start, Abbott/School Development Authority (SDA) districts, or public school preschool settings Experience implementing Creative Curriculum, Tools of the Mind, or similar preschool curriculum models, preferred Familiarity with Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment system, preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills. Ability to adapt instruction based on assessment data and student needs. Proficiency with educational technology and digital assessment systems.
Starting Salary:
$66,000, with benefit package
