In this role, you will support classroom activities, foster a nurturing inclusive environment, and assist lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons that promote childhood development. Education Requirements High school Diploma or it's equivalent OR minimum of one year working with children less than 13 years of age Duties Assist lead teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate curricula through Brightwheel aligned with NYS Early Learning Guidelines. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping children develop social skills through effective behavior management techniques. Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, motor, and emotional development, including infant/toddler care and preschool exercises. Help with classroom organization, including preparing materials for lessons and maintaining a clean, safe environment aligned with childcare regulations. Work closely with children with diverse needs, including those with autism or disabilities, providing personalized support to foster inclusive learning experiences. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure a collaborative approach to each child's growth and well-being. Participate in trainings to foster continued growth and education within the early childhood field. Assist with diapering/toileting, feeding, nap time, and creating a responsive and supportive environment. Experience Prior experience working with children in daycare and/or preschool settings is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices highly desirable. Comfortability with hands-on teaching methods Previous work supporting children with special needs or working with individuals with autism or disabilities is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, families, and the community. Knowledge of OCFS regulations and Health and Safety policies a plus.
