Are you passionate about education and fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)? Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf to create a supportive, inclusive, and academically focused environment where Deaf and Hard of Hearing students can thrive.

What You'll Do:
Deliver curriculum aligned with NYS standards, making modifications as needed per student IEPs. Maintain accurate student data, progress monitoring, and documentation. Foster a positive, supportive, and academically focused classroom environment. Implement and support Behavior Intervention Plans as written in IEPs. Integrate technology and a variety of teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Collaborate with Teacher Assistants, counselors, and colleagues to support student growth. Attend IEP meetings, trainings, and faculty meetings as an active school community member. Ensure student safety while modeling professionalism and school values.
What You'll Bring:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • required.
NYS Certification in Deaf Education (Birth-2, Grades 1-6, Special Education preferred). Master's degree or higher from an accredited university. Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Knowledge of disability rights, laws, and regulations. Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills. Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and process improvement. Willingness to support the mission of the Mill Neck Family of Organizations.
