Lead Head Pre-K Teacher Full Time William Woodward Jr Nursery School New York, NY Job Details Part-time $32,000•$35,000 a year 4 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Employee discount Qualifications Behavior management CPR Certification Teamwork Teaching Certification Master's degree Learning styles adaptability First Aid Certification Instructional adaptability Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Classroom management interventions Full Job Description The William Woodward Jr. Nursery School seeks a Part Time Preschool Lead Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year with a September 2026 start date: Monday•Friday, 8:30 am-12:30 pm The PreK classroom at Woodward is comprised of children between the ages of 3.9-5.0 who are preparing for entrance into Kindergarten the following fall. The School's mission is to provide a solid foundation for a lifetime love of learning by creating a collaborative learning community. We embrace and celebrate the strengths of all learners while supporting their growth, self-confidence, and independence. We strive to create and maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all children, families, and staff. As a Lead PreK Teacher, you will have the opportunity to guide our oldest children and their families through their final year at Woodward. The Lead Teacher is responsible for the following: Creating and implementing a rich and developmentally appropriate curriculum that will prepare our learners for Kindergarten and beyond. Creating a positive and safe learning environment that fosters social/emotional growth and development. Completing ongoing school reports when requested by the families and ongoing schools. Collaboration with all other teaching staff, SEITs, and other outside service professionals and willingness to contribute to a small community of teachers and staff by assisting in some administrative duties and daily check-in meetings with other head teachers. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including sending a weekly email to classroom parents with lesson plans as well as a monthly newsletter to the school community and some virtual slide presentations. Able to create successful partnerships with parents to meet the needs of the children. Warm and nurturing demeanor and a genuine respect and appreciation for small children. Comfortable and experienced in caring for children turning 4-5 years old, including supporting separation and addressing other developmental needs with patience and empathy. Conducting twice yearly parent-teacher conferences as well as maintaining regular communication with parents both in person (when possible) and via email. Completing school reports twice a year. Must possess the ability and willingness to differentiate instruction whenever needed. Must possess the ability to use and maintain good classroom management. Professional dedication and dependability. Willingness to participate in Open House Events, Curriculum Night, Back to School activities, and staff meetings when necessary in addition to contracted work hours. Knowledge of Reggio Emilia practice and Handwriting without Tears is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess the following or be willing to complete all of the following on or before 08/1/26: Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or working toward one. NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education A minimum of five years of experience, preferably as a Lead Teacher DOH Background Check, including Fingerprinting.
A-Series, and SCR Completed DOH Medical CPR & First Aid Certified All DOH Mandated Training Courses Job Type:
