Job Description

The New Interdisciplinary School (NIS) is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Lead Teacher for our Toddler Classroom . We are looking for an educator who is passionate about early childhood development and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where toddlers can grow, explore, and reach developmental milestones. As the Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, leading the classroom team, and building strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Responsibilities Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development of toddlers. Create a warm, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels safe, valued, and supported. Supervise and mentor Teacher Assistants while providing guidance on daily classroom activities and routines. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children by following OCFS regulations and universal precautions. Support children with activities of daily living, including diapering, toileting, feeding, dressing, and other self-care routines. Observe, document, and communicate children's developmental progress with families and administration. Foster positive relationships with children, families, staff, and administration through open and professional communication. Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and training. Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and licensing requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required. High school diploma or GED required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Previous experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early childhood setting. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while leading classroom operations. Patient, dependable, and passionate about early childhood education. Must be able to lift and carry children weighing up to 45 pounds multiple times throughout the day. Why Join NIS? Supportive, collaborative work environment.
