Head Teacher Job description, responsibilities and qualifications Responsibilities Prepare weekly lesson plans and activities that are developmentally appropriate for children in the classroom. The Director, and/or the Assistance Director must approve lesson plans each week. Lesson plans for the following week must be turned into the Director, Assistant Director, and/or Classroom Management Specialist by Thursday each week. Prepare education materials required to carry out daily programs. Maintain an orderly physical environment that is conducive to optimal growth and development of children. Attend all staff meetings. Must share information appropriately with other staff member in the facility. Must observe, record, and report all significant individual and/or group behaviors Must maintain progress reports for all children in the classroom and hold teacher/parents conferences once a year. Must maintain and promote positive parental contacts at all times Must supervise all activities to insure safety of each child at all times Must provide and maintain a neat, well-organized classroom Must insure all equipment and materials are well taken care of Is required to eat all meals with the children and assist development of good nutritional habits Keep attendance, daily, of all children in the classroom Qualifications Must have a H.S. diploma An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a Child Development Associates (CDA) preferred Must have 1 year experience in the child care field Must be neat and clean in appearance Must maintain prompt working hours Must maintain a positive attitude Must have the ability to work well with others Must be able to communicate effectively with children, parents, and co-workers Must be able to adapt to a highly active environment
