Job Description
The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment for children. The Lead Teacher ensures compliance with DHS licensing regulations, NECPA accreditation standards, and STARS quality requirements at all times. This position requires active supervision, strong leadership, organization, and a commitment to maintaining a structured and engaging learning environment.
Compensation:
$13.50 - $16 hourlyResponsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervision and child safety; incident reporting and documentation; classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment; managing daily routines, curriculum, and transitions; ensuring licensing and accreditation compliance; cleaning and sanitation procedures; diapering and maintaining supply inventory; supporting curriculum implementation and child development; parent communication; and promoting teamwork and leadership.Qualifications:
Professional expectations include but are not limited to: arriving on time and prepared to work; maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor; using personal cell phones only during approved times; maintaining confidentiality at all times; and following all center policies and procedures. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds; sit on the floor; bend, squat, and stand for extended periods; and actively move throughout the classroom and playground environment. Staff members are expected to actively participate in scheduled classroom activities, dress appropriately for all weather conditions, share classroom equipment and supplies, remain with their assigned class at all times, respect the personal space of others, follow directions from leadership and supervisors, use appropriate language and voice levels, and come prepared each day to teach, learn, and engage with children in a positive and professional manner.
