Job Description

Position Summary:
Monkin Academy is seeking dependable, motivated, and team-oriented individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and interested in long-term professional growth. This role is designed for employees who want to be active contributors to daily operations, curriculum planning, and continuous program improvement. Each employee will be trained to confidently operate the facility and serve as the acting provider/director in the owner's absence. Team members are expected to participate in leadership responsibilities, decision-making, and maintaining high-quality care standards.
Required Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older Must be able to enroll in and pass the Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR) Must meet and maintain all Oregon Office of Child Care licensing requirements Must complete and maintain all required health, safety, and professional trainings Must have the ability to read, speak, and write in English in order to: Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff Understand and follow licensing regulations and written procedures Complete required documentation and training materials Must have consistent availability and reliability Must be able to perform the duties required in a licensed child care setting
Leadership & Team Responsibilities:
Serve as a key member of the Monkin Academy leadership team Support and help manage daily program operations Act as lead staff or provider when scheduled or when the director is absent Collaborate with teammates on curriculum planning and daily schedules Participate in discussions related to policies, procedures, and improvements Model professionalism, accountability, and teamwork Help maintain licensing compliance and quality standards
Child Care & Classroom Responsibilities:
Provide safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care Build strong, respectful relationships with children and families Support daily routines including meals, rest, learning, and play Help plan and implement curriculum activities Maintain appropriate supervision and child-to-staff ratios Ensure compliance with safety, health, and licensing rules
Reliability & Professional Expectations:
Maintain consistent and dependable availability Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled shifts Communicate clearly and professionally regarding scheduling Demonstrate initiative and accountability Support team coverage and program continuity
