PELICAN BABIES/ LITLE PELICAN PRESCHOOL
Position:
Child Care Provider for Pelican Babies Child Development Center/ Little Pelican Preschool
Function:
We provide a safe, quality child care center for the target population of teen parents attending school as well as district staff children. It is the program goal to have child care providers that are able to model appropriate child rearing skills to the parents in a kind, encouraging, and empathetic manner, and to provide qualtiy childcare that aids in the learning and growth of all children enrolled.
Responsibilities:
Assist the supervisor with the daily operation of the program. Ensure the care, safety, and well-being of all children in the center. Supervise the activities of student aides and in the supervisor's absence. Be responsible for the implementation of the center's program of activities. Ensure the appropriateness of program activities according to the age, interests, and developmental level of the children. Know and maintain DELC rules and all other regulations applicable to the operation of child care centers. Ensure that the cleanliness of the center is maintained daily. Maintain constant interaction between students, staff, parents, and children. Be willing to learn USDA and CACFP regulations, requirements, and procedures. Oversee meal production. Complete daily record keeping of attendance and daily activities. Willing to participate each year in training related to child care. Other duties as assigned by program supervior. Work closely with the student parents and aides to increase parenting skills, self-confidence, and knowledge of infant, toddler, and preschool child development. Involve student parents not working as aides as much as possible in center operation. Actively Participate in staff meeting discussions.
Requirements:
Ability to work with infants/toddlers/preschoolers warmly, calmly, and in an unhurried way. Ability to meet the social-emotional, physical, and developmental needs of individual infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Ability to maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers, and parents. General knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid. Willingness to accept supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age. Bachelor's or Associate's degree with major in early childhood education or child development preferred, OR Child Development Associate Credential related to infant/toddler care, OR at least two years full-time experience, with at least one year as a teacher in a childcare center caring for infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers If a candidate does not have above minimum qulifications then they must pass the paraprofessional exam. Thorough understanding of infant and toddler growth and development and appropriate programming for infants and toddlers. Enrollment in the Child Care Division's Criminal History Registry prior to starting. Current first aid and infant/child CPR certification. Food Handler's card or willingness to obtain such within 15 days. Completion of neglect and abuse reporting course within 15 days.
