Job Description

Co-Lead Teacher Treasure Valley Children's Relief Nursery is a therapeutic early childhood program located in Ontario, Oregon, serving families throughout Malheur County. We provide nurturing, trauma-informed care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, with a focus on supporting families experiencing high levels of stress or adversity. Our mission is to strengthen families and keep them safely together by offering early childhood education, home visits, parenting support, and connections to mental health and community resources. Summary The Co-Lead Teacher in our ERDC-supported 2- and 3-year-old classroom provides high-quality, trauma-informed care and education for toddlers in a therapeutic early childhood setting. Working collaboratively with another Co-Lead Teacher, this position helps create a nurturing, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes emotional regulation, social development, and school readiness. Through the Therapeutic Approach Commitment (TAC), Co-Lead Teachers support children by building secure relationships, fostering emotional growth, and partnering with families to strengthen protective factors and resilience. Key Responsibilities Co-develop and implement lesson plans aligned with developmental goals and therapeutic approaches. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that supports individual growth. Promote positive behavior guidance through trauma-informed, relationship-based practices. Foster trusting relationships with children, families, and team members. Support the implementation of TVCRN's Therapeutic Approach Commitment (TAC) through nurturing interactions, consistent routines, and responsive caregiving. Observe and document developmental progress; participate in screenings and assessments. Engage in regular reflective supervision and team meetings designed to support professional growth and therapeutic practice. Ensure compliance with Oregon Child Care Licensing, ERDC requirements, and center policies. Support transitions, mealtimes, and daily routines with warmth and consistency. Communicate regularly with families regarding child progress, concerns, and resources. Assist with maintaining accurate attendance, health checks, and required documentation. Participate in required training, including CPR/First Aid, child abuse reporting, and trauma-informed care. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; OR Step 6 or higher on the Oregon Registry. Minimum of one year experience working with toddlers or preschoolers in a licensed program. Commitment to trauma-informed and therapeutic early childhood practices. Ability to meet all background check and health/safety requirements per state regulations. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or a related field. Experience working with children and families exposed to trauma or significant stress. Familiarity with the Teaching Pyramid, Conscious Discipline, or similar relationship-based frameworks. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children on the floor.
