Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our team at Escuela Viva Community School. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the educational experiences of our students, utilizing innovative teaching methods and fostering a supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities Model all behavior that is expected of parents and children including language, tone of voice, personal energy, and so forth. Support child-initiated play, and children in their goals by providing challenging and motivating activities during activity and center time. Efficiently plan class field trips Maintains a professional image and manner consistent with the mission and goals of Escuela Viva Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by program needs, and the owner of Escuela Viva. Document children's artwork, play, discussions, and all other projects using written description and photography; document children's work weekly for parents and children to see in the classroom and online daily. Provide and/or ensure adequate supervision of children during school hours Organize and clean materials available to the children regularly Using provocations and following the children's lead, guide children through project work. Post all upcoming activities in the classroom on the Parent Board. Write and email Classroom Newsletters Establish a partnership with parents to support the needs of each child, through email communication, feedback at the start or end of the day, and set up individual meetings as necessary. Conduct parent-teacher conferences twice a year. Exemplify school mission and vision in all school activities. Mentor teaching assistants and assist in orienting and guiding new teachers working in the classroom Communicate with team members through conversation, email, and/or written communication daily. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required. Must pass a full background check, including fingerprinting, references, and DELC requirements. Experience with the Project Approach, understanding of teaching pedagogies such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Play-based, etc. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage young learners. Knowledge of childhood development principles is essential. Ability to create inclusive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles. Warm, friendly, caring, upbeat personality. Exceptional people skills in dealing with young children, parents, and staff. Professional, reliable, and prompt.
