7 Abilene, TX Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications Early childhood education Child development instruction Mandated reporting laws Pediatric first aid Teaching experience with young children Full Job Description The Nursery Caregiver supports the physical care and spiritual formation of infants, babies, and toddlers at St. Paul UMC. This ministry role also is responsible for providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. The Nursery Caregiver is expected to model Christian character in their conduct, and collaborate with the Children's Director, church staff, volunteers, and parents to support the overall mission of the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Be in the nursery room, ready to care for children by 08:30am on Sundays, and 05:30pm on Wednesdays Check-in and Check-out children through the sign-in sheet or system provided by the Children's Director Maintain a timesheet log of your hours using the system or app provided by the Children's Director Follow all MinistrySafe practices and procedures at all times (training will be provided by St Paul UMC) Provide assistance, care, and cleanup for each child, which may include:
  • Changing diapers, or assisting with potty training
  • Bottle-feeding, or snacks and drinks for each child
  • Curriculum lesson or creative activity as provided by Children's Director
  • Engage in age-appropriate play activities with children
  • Escort and monitor children playing on the playground Routinely clean and organize the Nursery areas to insure it is clean and welcoming for parents and children Notify Children's Director when supplies, snacks, or first-aid kit need restocking, in advance. Provide additional care as scheduled for all other church events as needed, such as:
  • Christmas Eve
  • Holy Week before Easter
  • Funerals
  • Quarterly church activities Communicate weekly with Children's Director about scheduling hours, sick leave, etc.
Request Time Off in advance from the Children's Director (subject to approval)
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications Must be 15 years of age or older, and eligible to work under Texas Labor Laws Must pass a standard background check for working with minors and vulnerable populations. Good interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with diverse individuals. Ability to manage multiple tasks, multiple children, and adapt to changing needs. Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating with church staff and volunteers. Commitment to Christian values Preferred Qualifications Experience working with newborns, infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children Experience participating or working in a church, nonprofit, or educational setting. First-Aid and CPR Training preferred but not required (training will be provided by St Paul UMC)
