Full Job Description Goal:
To plan and implement an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child, in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning® Approach to teaching and learning. Qualifications:
Is responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children. Customer Service Skills Passion for children Follow Primrose Curriculum and Classroom Schedule Classroom Management Organization skills and Cleanliness Observes all rules and regulations at Primrose and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children. Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis. Implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum and programming. Plans with a member of the Leadership Team the parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations. Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence. Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior. Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds. Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions. Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Primrose Employee Handbook Assists in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary. Must meet basic requirements of Texas State Childcare Licensing Previous teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children
Infant- Preschool Teachers:
2-year degree in early childhood or related field preferred
Pre-Kindergarten Teachers:
4-year degree in early childhood or related field preferred
Kindergarten Teacher:
4-year degree in early childhood and certified to teach in Texas required
Physical Abilities Needed:
Lifting and Carrying:
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. For Infant and Young Toddler teachers, must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib. Regularly lifting and carrying children or objects within classroom and/or school, which can vary in weight depending on the age group. Maneuvering awkwardly shaped objects - desks, chairs, trash bins, toys, or kitchen utensils
Mobility, Bending and Reaching:
Frequent need to bend down to children's level, including kneeling on the floor to interact with children and be on their level. Stooping to access tight spaces Spending significant time (2-4 hours) standing while supervising children during playtime or activities. Reaching for objects on high shelves or assisting children with tasks that require twisting motions. Participating in floor activities with children, requiring the ability to sit comfortably on the floor and get up and down as needed. Using hands to manipulate small toys or assist with self-care tasks like buttoning clothes. Ability to respond quickly to child safety issues while in classroom or playground Must be able and willing to be interactive with children on playground. This includes walking around play structure, pushing children while on swing and preventing as much as possible children from falling off play structure Must be able and willing to clean classrooms daily including, sweeping, mopping and/or wiping off tables as needed after meals or events
Pushing and Pulling:
Pushing or pulling heavy carts or equipment Applying force to move objects
Climbing and Balancing:
Climbing step stools, ladders or stairs Navigating uneven terrain Maintaining good balance while working
Environmental Factors:
Working in hot or cold weather conditions Working outdoors in various weather elements Exposure to noise or vibrations
Job Specific Requirements:
The specific physical demands will vary greatly depending on the job role
