nfant Room Teacher Job Description Hearts and Minds Early Learning Center Position Summary The Infant Room Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (6 weeks-18 months). This role requires a compassionate, attentive caregiver who supports early development through responsive care, structured routines, and meaningful interactions. At Hearts and Minds ELC, we believe in caring for the whole child—heart, mind, and body. Our infant teachers lay the foundation for lifelong learning by building trust, fostering security, and modeling love, patience, and consistency. Key Responsibilities 1. Nurturing Care & Supervision Provide attentive, responsive care to meet each infant's physical and emotional needs Maintain a calm, loving environment that promotes bonding and security Follow all safe sleep practices and center safety policies at all times Supervise infants closely to ensure their safety and well-being 2. Daily Routines & Development Follow individualized feeding, sleeping, and care schedules Support early developmental milestones (tummy time, sensory play, communication) Engage infants through talking, singing, reading, and play Create a consistent daily routine that promotes stability and growth 3. Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance Maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation standards Accurately document feedings, diaper changes, and daily activities Ensure all licensing regulations and center policies are followed Conduct routine room checks to maintain a safe environment 4. Communication & Family Partnerships Communicate daily with parents through Brightwheel and in person Provide clear, warm updates about each child's day Build trusting relationships with families through consistency and professionalism 5. Classroom Management & Teamwork Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming classroom Work collaboratively with co-teachers and administration Be flexible and willing to assist in other classrooms as needed Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and center events Qualifications Experience working with infants (preferred) Strong understanding of infant development and care practices Ability to lift, carry, and actively engage with infants throughout the day Patience, reliability, and a nurturing personality Must meet all state licensing requirements (CPR/First Aid, background check, etc.) Core Values & Expectations At Hearts and Minds ELC, our teachers are expected to: Lead with love, patience, and kindness Model respectful and positive interactions Support a faith-based, character-centered environment Demonstrate professionalism and strong work ethic Partner with families as an extension of the child's home Physical Requirements Lift up to 40 lbs Sit on the floor, bend, and move frequently throughout the day Maintain active supervision at all times Why Join Hearts and Minds ELC?
