Job Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age; proof of high school graduation/GED required; some college hours preferred. Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine or work schedule based on the needs of the children and the center. Able to assist in instructing young learners and manage their behavior. Strong communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills. Minimum of one-year successful experience in a state regulated childcare facility or educational setting preferred. Knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and Early Childhood Education preferred. Must demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation of the daily activity plans and center events, including assisting the ECC instructor in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the instructor; work with individual learners or small groups. Support a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of young learners. Utilize age appropriate strategies to manage the behavior of young learners in accordance with district and department policies and guidelines, as well as the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers. Supervise children in all programming areas. Assist the ECC Instructor in the completion of all necessary paperwork for communication with parents of the center. Provide regular, on-going communication to the ECC Director and the ECC Instructor. Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, children, colleagues, and community members. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom, including supporting the cleanliness of the center and sanitizing center supplies. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and meet the yearly training requirements as outlined in the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers. Comply with state, district and department regulations and policies pertaining to the role of an ECC Instructional Aide. Attend and participate in staff and department meetings, as required. Assist children with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene. Adhere to all Minimum Standard for Child Care Centers. Maintain confidentiality. Provide quality customer service to children, parents, colleagues, and community members. Perform any and all other duties deemed necessary by the ECC Director, the Assistant Director or the ECC Instructor. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
