Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a School-Age Program Staff member at the La Mesa Community Center, where your energy and dedication will inspire and support children in their after-school activities and summer camps. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children of various ages, fostering their growth through structured activities, play, and learning. Your enthusiasm will help promote positive behavior, encourage teamwork, and develop essential skills in young learners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience in childcare, education, and youth development. Located at : 744 San Jose Rd, La Mesa, NM 88044 Duties Supervise children during after-school programs, summer camps, and special events to ensure safety and engagement Implement age-appropriate activities that promote childhood development, social skills, and creativity Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies and positive reinforcement Assist with lesson planning, tutoring sessions, or recreational activities such as sports coaching or theater projects Maintain a clean and organized environment conducive to learning and play Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and behavior Support emergency procedures by applying first aid when necessary and ensuring compliance with safety protocols Requirements Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare is preferred Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification upon hire is required Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices Ability to engage children through creative activities like theater, sports coaching, or arts & crafts Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, children, and parents Demonstrated reliability, patience, and enthusiasm for working with diverse youth populations Must be 18 or older Join us in creating a vibrant community space where children can thrive!
