All child-care center employees, including persons not counted in the child/caregiver ratio, must: Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures Ensure that no child is abused, neglected, and exploited while in the care of the center Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to DFPS as specified in the Texas Family Code
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CHILD-CARE CENTER PERSONNEL
In addition to the responsibilities for the employees specified in this division, caregivers must: Know and comply with the minimum standards for child-care centers Know which children they are responsible for Know each child's name and have information showing each child's age Supervise children at all times, as specified in 746.1205 of this title (relating to What does Licensing mean by "supervise children at all times"?) Ensure the children are not out of control Be free from activities not directly involving the teaching, care, and supervision of children, such as: Administrative and clerical duties that take the caregiver's attention away from the children Meal preparation, except when 12 or fewer children are in care; and Janitorial duties; and Personal use of electronic devices, such as cell phones, MP3 players, tablets, and video games Interact with children positively; Foster developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities; Foster a cooperative rather than a competitive atmosphere; Show appreciation of children's efforts and accomplishments; and Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming Child Care-Teachers information about each child's activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written instructions given by the parent.
