Who We are:
First United Methodist Day School and Afterschool (DSA) is an awesome place to work, grow, and make the world a better place for children and their families! We are currently seeking fun, energetic and loving teachers with experience caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers to join our afterschool team from 2:00-6:00pm M-F. At DSA, we provide a safe and positive environment for children using Developmentally Appropriate Best Practices in order for children to learn and thrive. We maintain neat and attractive classrooms, participate in ongoing training opportunities, implement lesson plans, and comply with licensing and Texas Rising Star standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist staff with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. Maintain daily open communication with parents Maintain confidentiality Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy Maintain a safe and healthy environment Attend in-service and staff meetings Assist with the implementation of daily lesson plans and activities. Assist in supervising children and participate with children in activities. Assist with daily observations and child evaluations. Provide guidance for children's behavior. Meet all applicable licensing regulations
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 18. 1 + years of experience working with children, CDA or college hours in Early Childhood Education not required but a plus Adult and child CPR & First Aid Certifications Excellent interpersonal communication skills. A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives. Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Innovative in teaching methodology Proficient in communicating with young children Ability to meet curricular deadlines
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES
Be able to lift 25-30 lbs. Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor Perform light duty cleaning
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
