A FOUNDING TEACHER OPPORTUNITY
Because Guiding Light Christian Montessori is a new school, you will help build your classroom from the beginning. You will work with school leadership to: Prepare and organize the infant/toddler classroom Establish routines, schedules, and classroom systems Implement curriculum and learning activities Support and guide Assistant and Float Teachers Build strong relationships with founding families Maintain high standards for safety, cleanliness, supervision, and quality You won't simply step into an existing classroom. WHAT YOU WILL DO
As Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher, you will: Create a warm, safe, loving, and organized classroom Build secure relationships with infants and toddlers Provide individualized care based on each child's developmental needs Support language, sensory, motor, cognitive, and social-emotional development Implement developmentally appropriate and Montessori-inspired activities Encourage independence and practical life skills Support age-appropriate Christian learning through prayer, music, Bible stories, and character development Observe and document children's progress and milestones Maintain classroom routines and accurate records Communicate professionally with parents and families Guide Assistant and Float Teachers Maintain required teacher-to-child ratios Follow Virginia licensing, health, sanitation, supervision, and safety requirements
INFANT & TODDLER CARE
Responsibilities may include: Preparing and providing bottles and meals according to individual plans Diapering and toileting Supporting nap and rest schedules Following safe sleep practices Maintaining feeding, diapering, sleep, and activity records Supporting toddler self-help skills Maintaining excellent sanitation and hygiene Providing continuous, attentive supervision
FAMILY COMMUNICATION
You will build trusted relationships with parents by: Providing regular updates on feeding, sleep, diapering, activities, and development Communicating milestones and concerns professionally Supporting families during childcare transitions Partnering with parents to provide consistency between home and school when appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
Required or strongly preferred: Meets applicable Virginia requirements to serve as a Lead Teacher Previous infant and/or toddler experience in a licensed childcare, preschool, Montessori, or similar early childhood program Strong understanding of infant and toddler development Knowledge of feeding, diapering, safe sleep, sanitation, and supervision practices Ability to plan developmentally appropriate learning activities Strong communication and organizational skills Reliable, patient, nurturing, and professional Ability to work effectively with Assistant Teachers and leadership Ability to meet applicable background check, health, training, and licensing requirements Highly desirable: CDA with Infant/Toddler specialization Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field Montessori Inspired infant/toddler training or experience Virginia licensed childcare experience CPR/First Aid certification Medication Administration Training, where applicable Childcare management or parent communication software experience
