Job Description

Childcare Teacher Callahan Learning Center is hiring a teacher in our Locust Grove, VA location. We are looking for a qualified teacher to prepare small children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education! You will teach them important elements that they will encounter as they enter school. We are looking for late morning and afternoon as scheduled times for this position. A teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage children to earn their trust and attention. The ideal candidate will contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of each child so they can thrive in the next level of education. Program director qualified candidates given preferred treatment and are eligible for additional compensation. Callahan Learning Center is a team-focused, cooperative and collaborative company. //callahanlearningcenter.iks.center/application Responsibilities Create a classroom environment that addresses the needs of the whole child, fosters children's natural curiosity, and prepares them for Kindergarten. Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media, etc.) to teach children. Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem. Encourage and teach children to interact well with their peers and teachers. Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum Organize nap and meal times Supervise children to ensure their safety at all times. Track children's progress and engage parents digitally while in the classroom. Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche. Collaborate with other team members. Establish a positive relationship with children, families, co-workers and center managers. Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with Virginia health, safety, and childcare standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Meet teacher qualifications per VA Licensing Standards (8VAC20-780-210) Post-secondary education in child related field (preferred) 6 months of classroom teaching experience in a licensed preschool Proficiency in communication skills, both oral and written Must be able to move freely in and out of classroom without restrictions and work on the child's level of sight Must be able to lift 35-40 pounds Program director qualified candidates given preferred treatment and eligible for additional compensation The following requirements are non-negotiable, although we are willing to be flexible with the experience requirements with comparable equivalent experience. Work Authorization - United States Ability to successfully pass and maintain criminal background history check, drug testing, and Child Protective Services Registry review A love for children, their wellness, education, and growth Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff, and management Must satisfy Virginia's Standard Qualifications (8VAC20-780-180)
