Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Preschool Teacher. Working under the general oversight of the designated supervisor, this role entails teaching foundational skills to preschool children at a specific location for the County. This position, based on the assigned location, delivers learning activities for preschoolers; creates and enforces basic rules to maintain classroom discipline; supports physical, mental, and social development through games, arts, crafts, music, and field trips; discusses children's development with parents; and plans tasks for aides. This position supervises staff. We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
  • Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, South Riding, VA Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Instructs and motivates preschool-aged children.
  • Formulates program activities suitable for preschoolers.
  • Manages children's behaviors, communication, and involvement in program activities; upholds the necessary staff-to-student ratios; and adheres to the established policies and procedures concerning supervision, interactions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Observes the activities of preschool children.
  • Safeguards the health and safety of children enrolled in the program.
  • Facilitates supportive and professional communication with parents, site personnel, and staff; answers parent inquiries and requests; delivers program information to interested parents; and ensures the supervisor is well-informed.
  • May carry out additional critical job responsibilities that are specific to the role and departmental assignment.
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; six (6) months programmatic experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience. Complete education and experience requirements to meet Virginia State Teacher certification for position. Must undergo pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. First Aid/CPR certifications prior to hire or immediately upon hire; prefer Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or equivalent. Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire;
MAT/EMAT
training within 90 days of hire.
