Job Description

Preschool After Care Teacher Springfield, VA 22152 From $18 an hour - Part-time From $18 an hour - Part-time We are looking for a Preschool After Care Teacher to work during the 2026-2027 school year from 1:45 pm to 4:45 pm Monday through Friday. As a Christian Preschool, we are dedicated to providing a loving and safe environment that offers children play based learning. Teachers will plan together for afternoon quiet time and play based learning in the classroom while working to meet the social/emotional needs of our learners. Teachers in the After Care classroom work with students ages 2 years through Pre K 4's and will report to our Director and CEP Board. This job is part time (15 hours/wk) from Sept 14, 2026 through May 28, 2027. While Messiah CEP does follow the FCPS school calendar for the most part, CEP is open on several non-Christian religious holidays and teacher workdays that FCPS is closed. After Care Staff may need to work each day Aug 31 through Sep 3 for classroom set up, attend staff meetings outside of regularly scheduled workdays, attend Parent/Teacher Night and CEP clean up day (all of this will be paid at your regular hourly rate). Responsibilities Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning activities Establish and enforce age appropriate rules of behavior for children in their classrooms Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games and storytelling Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents Maintain a clean and tidy classroom Let Director know if need any supplies Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures Skills Proven experience as a child care/daycare teacher Knowledge of child development and play based education methods Patience, flexibility and love for children Strong communication and leadership skills Certificate in first aid and CPR (CEP will provide training)
