Come be a part of something that matters!! Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for the position of preschool teacher. The Preschool Teacher position provides learning activities for preschool children, establishes and enforces basic rules to maintain classroom order, and promotes physical, mental, and social development through games, arts, crafts, music, and field trips. A successful candidate will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss the development of children with parents and plan assignments for preschool aides. Our team embraces each child's uniqueness, including all individual skills or needs. We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
- Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, Sterling, VA Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Actively supports, motivates, and interacts with children during classroom activities; encourages their exploration and play; and assists them in fulfilling their self-care needs.
- Lesson planning and implementation of the preschool curriculum.
- Engages in communication with parents, staff members, and personnel at the school site.
- Supervises children.
- Observes the actions of preschool-aged children.
- Other key job functions related to the specific role and department assignment may also be performed as necessary.
- The Preschool Program operates Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The regular preschool teacher position receives additional planning time, totaling 25 hours per week, from August to June.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; six (6) months programmatic experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience. Complete education and experience requirements to meet Virginia State Teacher certification for position.
- You must be physically able to keep up with participants and lift 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One-year programmatic experience, including previous supervisory experience, is strongly preferred.
- Experience with implementing the STREAMin3 curriculum.
