Minimum of 1 position Projected Start date: Immediately Baylake Academy is a private 6 weeks through Kindergarten school located in the Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia Beach. Baylake Academy provides a leading educational environment with an interactive curriculum promoting independent thinkers. Along with nine playful modern classrooms, Baylake Academy hosts a library for mind exploration, state of the art computer room, a science room where our children can experiment and experience discovery, and a fine arts studio where creativity comes alive. Our multi-use gymnasium offers a massive space equipped with a stage to host school events in addition to the physical fitness program designed by our personal trainer. Our outside activities take place in designated age-group specific areas along with playground equipment and sports play areas. Our Food & Nutrition Program is a well-balanced snack program that engages the children while promoting healthy eating habits.   • Give back to one another and throughout the community Lead Teacher Baylake Academy is currently seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated Full-Time qualified Lead Pre-K4 Teacher to nurture healthy development in our students and encourage lifelong learning.
The primary function of the Lead Teacher is to work with parents, administrators and other teachers to improve students' experience and meet teaching objectives, all while teaching their own classes and mentoring the Assistant Teachers. The Lead Teacher position(s) at Baylake Academy is responsible for teaching the specific age level assigned and mentors the Assistant Teacher in the classroom. Additionally, they are responsible for representing the class in meetings with the Director, fellow teachers, and Owners. The Lead Teacher's salary is based on the candidate's experience, education and credentials. Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Certifications required All candidates who wish to be considered for the position of Lead Teacher must meet the following criteria in addition to any/all requirements that may be mandated by the state and/or local licensing authorities:
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child Development or 5+ years of equivalent experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool
  • Patience, passion, multi-tasking (organizational) skills and strong professional communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to work year-round (Monday - Friday)
  • The following are a plus: o Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities o Working knowledge of the STEAM approach o Working knowledge of integrated learning approaches (e.
g., individualized and differentiated learning) o Working knowledge of phenomenon and problem-based learning Lead Teacher Duties and Responsibilities As outlined below, the Lead Teacher's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment that reflects the children's learning and growth
  • Create and maintain ongoing, open communication with parent(s) and caregiver(s)
  • Build strong relationships with each family providing a classroom environment that encourages parent participation
  • Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners
  • Plan and prepare classroom setting and supervise children in the classroom; provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors. Administrative
  • Plan and execute an orientation with each child and parent(s) to help them transition into their new classroom
  • Assess supplies and materials needed prior to implementing activities
  • Develop lesson plans and implement age-appropriate curriculum and thematic units that nurture and stimulate students and address the individual needs of each child
  • Plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child
  • Maintain student attendance
  • Develop a Classroom Management Plan and manage the classroom according to the Baylake Academy standards
  • Maintain compliance with Baylake Academy Quality Assurance Standards
  • Participate actively in staff required meetings, training sessions, and school visits by prospective parents as necessary
  • Adhere to Employee Handbook and Baylake Academy's Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to student needs by: o Observing the children, and encouraging/building teamwork o Assessing students utilizing state regulations o Planning periodical parent conferences to discuss children's developmental progress, needs and interests o Performing ongoing developmental evaluations of children as required o Planning, organizing and implementing educational activities effectively o Maintaining accurate, complete and timely records on each child regarding the nutrition program Baylake Academy offers competitive compensation based on experience, education and certifications.
