Job Description

Westshire Elementary School and Samuel Morey Elementary School, serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5, are located in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley near Dartmouth College. We are seeking a highly qualified and inspiring part-time Music Teacher to join our school communities.

The Music Teacher is responsible for providing engaging music instruction to students in Pre-K through Grade 5 and collaborating with classroom teachers and other staff to foster an appreciation of music throughout the school community.

The successful candidate will help students develop their enjoyment, appreciation, confidence, and performance skills in music through a variety of planned and developmentally appropriate experiences, including: Singing and vocal development Movement and dance Playing and exploring musical instruments Music listening and appreciation Creative music-making and performance Opportunities to connect music with classroom learning and other areas of the curriculum The Music Teacher will also perform other duties directly related to the position and participate as a collaborative member of the school community.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong organization and classroom management skills A passion for teaching music to elementary-aged children The ability to create engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate music experiences A willingness to collaborate with classroom teachers and integrate music into learning across the school Strong communication and interpersonal skills A commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues An understanding of and commitment to supporting students' social-emotional development Familiarity with the GamePlan Music Curriculum, Feierabend's First Steps in Music, and/or Conversational Solfege is a plus.
