Job Description
Mission:
At Blessing Farm and Forest Preschool, we believe in providing children with the freedom to explore and develop in a dynamic and engaging outdoor setting. Our mission is to nurture their physical and emotional growth through meaningful work, unstructured play and connection with nature and animals.Education Philosophy:
Inspired by Waldorf Education and the Forest Kindergarten movement, our approach emphasizes holistic, play-based learning. We believe in allowing academic subjects to naturally emerge through communal activities, storytelling, and hands-on experiences like gardening, animal care, and the domestic arts. We do not teach academics directly.Ideal Candidate:

Has a genuine appreciation for nature and enjoys spending time outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions. We are 100% outdoors all year. Demonstrates compassion, patience, and warmth in supporting children's physical and emotional well-being. Embraces a holistic lifestyle. Values the innate wisdom, authenticity, and curiosity of children. Shows interest in homesteading skills such as gardening, herbalism, woodworking, or cooking, with a willingness to learn and grow alongside the children. Openness to learning more about Waldorf education and the ability to work in alignment with the values and insights of the philosophy.Responsibilities:
Cultivate a warm, nurturing environment that supports children's holistic development and authentic connection to nature. Assist with yard, garden, and animal care, encouraging children's participation and respect for the natural world. Support the lead teacher during transitions, structured activities and meals, offering gentle guidance and emotional support to children. Lead or supervise activities including domestic arts, gardening, animal care, and nature-based crafts. Maintain cleanliness of facilities, assist with setup, and help with animal care.Position Details:

22.5 hours per week, Wed•Fri, 8:30 AM•1:00 PM.Compensation:
$19•$20 per hour.School Year:

This role involves active, hands-on work—moving materials, caring for animals, carrying children when needed, hiking on uneven and steep terrain, and working outdoors through all weather. Applicants should feel physically capable and at ease in a dynamic, physical environment. Applicants should be able to lift 50+ lbs. We are not seeking formal teaching experience for this position. Instead, we value practical experience with young children—nannying, babysitting, childcare, or other roles that involve supporting children's daily rhythms and needs. Assistants are encouraged to embody a grounded, quiet presence, guiding children through engaging and calming activities like washing dishes, chopping vegetables, processing herbs, etc. Encourage children's free play with minimal intervention, stepping in for safety or guidance only as needed. Uphold our philosophy of risk-taking and independence, supporting children in physical challenges while encouraging their autonomy. Dress comfortably and practically for outdoor activities, embracing simplicity and minimizing distractions.Testimonials:
