Northwest Parent Cooperative Preschool is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced part-time Preschool + Family Day Teacher to lead our Preschool and Family Day classes for children ages birth to 4 years . This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys partnering with families, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences in a cooperative preschool setting. Our curriculum combines whole-group learning, small-group activities, guided play, and real-world experiences that support every child's social, emotional, and academic growth.
Position Details Class Schedule Wednesday:
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (Family Day)
Thursday & Friday:
9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. (Preschool) Hours Minimum of 10 hours per week , including: Approximately 7 hours of classroom instruction Lesson planning Classroom set-up and clean-up Participation in monthly staff and board meetings About Our Program Northwest Parent Cooperative Preschool partners with the Community Colleges of Spokane and our parent-led board to provide a high-quality, play-based early learning experience. Parents actively participate in the classroom while learning about child development through the cooperative model. Teachers work closely with families to guide classroom activities, encourage parent involvement, and build a supportive learning community. We follow the Spokane Public Schools (District 81) academic calendar. Responsibilities Create a consistent, nurturing, and structured classroom environment. Plan and implement engaging, play-based lessons that support: Early literacy, language development, phonological awareness, fine motor skills, and pre-writing Foundational math concepts, including number sense, patterns, and problem-solving Executive functioning and self-regulation Social-emotional development Incorporate music, movement, science, sensory exploration, and hands-on learning into daily instruction. Foster an inclusive, welcoming classroom where every child feels valued. Collaborate with parents as active participants in the cooperative classroom. Work closely with the parent board to support program goals. Attend monthly meetings and assist with program planning. Qualifications Experience working with young children (birth-4 years) required Degree in Education or a related field preferred Strong classroom management and leadership skills Positive, energetic, flexible, and dependable Excellent communication and collaboration skills Passion for play-based learning and partnering with families Compensation Starting at $22 per hour , depending on qualifications and experience.
