Job Description

This role is fully in person (not hybrid or remote). This full-time, non-tenure-track appointment will begin August 2026. General Statement of Job This full-time, non-tenure-track appointment will begin August 2026. Teaches a variety of courses in Psychology. Examples include, but are not limited to, General Psychology, Social Psychology, Research Psychology, and Descriptive Statistics. Other responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, grant writing, campus and community service, research, and publishing. Faculty members may perform other duties as required in support of organizational goals. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Job Functions
  • Teach twelve credit hours of course work each semester specified by Program.
  • Hold 10 hours of office hours per week, with five hours being regularly scheduled and the remaining five held by appointment.
  • Serve on University committees or offices, as allowed by tenure status, i.e., non-tenure track, tenure-track, tenured.
  • Attend regularly, all program, department, college, and faculty meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of class attendance and performance in all courses as necessary, and report non-attendance to registrar as requested per the Provost and Chief Academic Officer.
  • Support proper assessment of all associated programs, including major degree programs and Liberal Studies.
  • Assign course grades in keeping with university guidelines and provide mid-term and final grades on the date and time assigned.
  • Attend University functions, e.g., Founder's Day Exercises, Commencement, and any other University convocations. College of STEM Full-time Faculty - All Ranks
  • Participate in University-Sponsored faculty development programs, such as workshops, conferences, and technology professional development workshops.
  • Follow all classroom procedures as described in the Faculty Handbook and provide proper and timely feedback to student assignments.
  • Meet regularly all classes during their assigned meeting times and for their fully scheduled class period, canceling class only according to university guidelines.
  • Conduct research as defined by university guidelines.
  • Participate in community activities as part of university service commitment.
  • Participate in professional organizations as part of faculty development.
  • Seek to support University curricula and programs through grant writing.
  • Maintain University guidelines of professional conduct in the classroom and on other occasions with students and other members of the University community.
  • Participate in student and faculty evaluation procedures.
  • Comply to the University protocol for
COVID-19.
Minimum Training and Experience Minimum qualifications are an earned Master's degree in Psychology or similar discipline from an accredited university (or other relevantly accredited programs). A strong background in undergraduate teaching with evidence of successful experience in teaching Psychology courses.
Other desired qualifications include:
(1) Psychology/industry work experience; (2) research and grant-writing experience; and (3) experience with technology-enhanced curriculum delivery. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to
Perform Essential Job Functions Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines and equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, etc. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of five to ten pounds.

Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communications:
Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to subordinates and receiving instructions and/or assignments from supervisor.
Language Ability:
Requires ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, equipment manuals, technical instructions, etc. Requires the ability to prepare complex reports, budget documents, diagrams, etc., with proper format. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence:
Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the ability to apply influence systems in managing a staff; to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related Finalists for this position are subject to a background check.
