Position:
The Reading Interventionist provides targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to improve student literacy and close achievement gaps. This role uses student data to design and implement differentiated interventions aligned to individual learning needs and supports Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS). The position collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to support student progress, participates in instructional planning and professional development, and contributes to curriculum alignment and best practices in reading instruction. Responsibilities also include progress monitoring, maintaining student records, participating in student support and IEP meetings, and integrating effective instructional strategies and technology to improve comprehension and achievement.
Qualifications:
Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and be certified as 1581 School Reading Specialist in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1581 highly preferred. Possess a valid Delaware teaching license and be certified as 1521 Elementary Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1521 required. Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and evidence-based reading intervention strategies. Ability to analyze student data and implement targeted interventions to improve student achievement. Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and strategies to support diverse learners. Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with students, staff, families, and administrators.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provide appropriate instructional opportunities for each student based on individual needs, abilities, and identified skill gaps in reading. Deliver evidence-based reading intervention strategies aligned with best instructional practices to improve student comprehension and literacy achievement. Collect, analyze, and interpret student data to identify needs, monitor progress, and guide instructional decisions and intervention planning. Implement targeted interventions to support student achievement and close literacy gaps. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with varying abilities and learning profiles. Participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) initiatives and support tiered intervention systems. Evaluate student academic growth, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and administrators to support student learning and align instructional practices. Provide instructional coaching and professional support to teachers across all grade levels, content areas, and programs by modeling effective practices, fostering collaboration, delivering timely and actionable feedback, and promoting continuous improvement in teaching and student achievement. Participate in and provide professional development through workshops, PLCs, grade-level/department meetings, and individual coaching, supporting curriculum development and revision aligned to Common Core Standards and best practices in reading instruction. Support students in developing comprehension skills for complex texts through strategic instructional approaches. Maintain ongoing communication and positive relationships with students, families, district staff, and other stakeholders. Integrate technology into instructional strategies to enhance learning and engagement. Participate in student progress meetings and IEP meetings as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Terms of Employment:
Ten-month (10) full-time employee.

Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually according to the Board's policy on professional personnel evaluation.
