Position:
Reading Specialist-Elementary School
Primary Function:
To provide supplemental instruction to students
RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide individual and small group instruction to students. To demonstrate teaching techniques and the use of various materials to help students improve reading skills. To diagnose and prescribe a plan of instruction to assist students. To maintain records on each student's progress. To assist in conducting workshops with other teachers, aides, and parents. To establish and maintain a reporting system with the student's regular teacher and parent. To assist with other related tasks that may be necessary in the Reading Program. To collect and record test information that is required
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in Reading or literacy preferred, or Masters in Education with 24 graduate level credits hours aligned to the International Literacy Association Standards in reading or literacy. Delaware Standard Reading Specialist Certificate. At least three (3) years of teaching experience in the area of Reading preferably in the elementary grades. Ability to work with students needing remedial assistance preferred.
