Job Description

The Montessori Academy of Celebration is seeking an exceptional educator to serve as our Cross-Classroom Reading Specialist, working with students and teachers across multiple classrooms and grade levels. This position exists to strengthen literacy instruction throughout the school while preserving the integrity of the Montessori classroom. Rather than replacing classroom instruction, the Reading Specialist partners with classroom teachers to provide targeted support, individualized instruction, enrichment, assessment, and instructional coaching that helps every child become a stronger, more confident reader. The Reading Specialist works with students who need additional support as well as students who are ready for greater challenge. Through collaboration, observation, and thoughtful planning, the specialist helps ensure that each child receives instruction appropriate to their individual needs while supporting the Montessori philosophy of independence, curiosity, and joyful learning. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable literacy educator who enjoys collaborating with teachers, building relationships with students, and helping educators strengthen literacy instruction throughout the school. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, Literacy, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field required. Reading endorsement, reading certification, or advanced coursework in literacy instruction preferred. Experience teaching reading at the elementary level preferred. Experience supporting students with varying reading abilities, including intervention and enrichment. Montessori experience or familiarity preferred, but not required. Strong understanding of evidence-based reading instruction and literacy development. Ability to analyze assessment data and use it to inform instruction. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Collaborative, organized, reflective, and growth-oriented professional. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Proficiency with educational technology and assessment tools. U.S. work authorization required. Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group literacy instruction to students across multiple classrooms. Support both students requiring additional reading intervention and students who would benefit from advanced literacy enrichment. Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify student needs, develop instructional strategies, and support literacy growth within the classroom. Observe students and use assessment data to guide instructional planning and monitor progress. Recommend instructional resources, strategies, and accommodations that support student success while maintaining authentic Montessori practice. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate literacy instruction into the prepared environment whenever appropriate. Assist teachers in selecting and organizing instructional materials that support reading development. Communicate regularly with classroom teachers regarding student progress and instructional recommendations. Participate in parent conferences, faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as appropriate. Maintain accurate assessment records and documentation. Continue professional learning in literacy instruction, child development, and educational best practices. Support and uphold the mission, philosophy, and policies of the Montessori Academy of Celebration. Our Philosophy At Montessori Academy of Celebration, we believe every child deserves to become a capable, confident reader. We also believe that literacy instruction is most successful when specialists and classroom teachers work together in partnership. Our Reading Specialist is not simply an interventionist. This educator is a school-wide resource who supports teachers, enriches classrooms, and helps ensure that every student—from those who need additional support to those ready for greater challenge—continues to grow as a reader, writer, thinker, and lifelong learner. Teachers are trusted as professionals and supported by school leadership that believes its primary responsibility is to help educators succeed. We seek educators who share that commitment and who are excited to be part of a collaborative Montessori community dedicated to helping every child thrive.
