Provide remedial services to students with language impairments and learning differences. Work cooperatively with LiFT teachers to ensure instruction is consistent with the classroom teacher's lesson plans. Work cooperatively with LiFT teachers to develop and implement LiFT Support Plan (LSP) goals that include learning goals accomplished through weekly instruction with the Resource Teacher. Facilitate LSP meetings with families. Provide lessons to students using differentiated instruction such as video aids, PowerPoint presentations, Smartboard tools, online aids, etc. Serve as a resource to LiFT teachers, for the purpose of planning and developing appropriate instruction for neurodiverse learners. Assist with the selection and production of instructional materials and appropriate supplementary supplies regarding innovative instructional methods/techniques. Work with individuals or small groups of students and establish a learning environment that is safe, secure, and respectful of diversity. Coordinate the educational efforts of the resource teacher and the classroom teachers. Create and provide a schedule/timeline of students served, sharing with appropriate teachers and administrators and guidance counselors. Create a learning environment that is conducive to effective instruction with students. Maintain an inventory or file of materials, equipment, and resources for personnel's classroom use. Communicate effectively with staff and parents. Cooperatively engage in the professional evaluation process with supervisor to ensure ongoing professional growth and competence. Attend regular and special staff meetings and actively participate as a member of the educational team.
Other Responsibilities:
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Must have the proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis. Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program. Have knowledge of and experience with relevant technology. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' academic progress in the Resource Program. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree preferred. State of Florida Teaching certificate required with reading endorsement
Experience:
Experience in the following disciplines: classroom management, research-based behavior interventions, research-based learning strategies, experiential instructional strategies, sensory integration techniques, and data-driven decision making. Experience in accommodations/modifications for special education students. Experience with and implementation of Service Plans preferred. Experience in providing social skills instruction to primary and secondary students.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of I.D.E.A. preferred. Knowledge of various educational disabilities preferred. Knowledge of character education/social skills development. Operational knowledge of the Internet and web-related technologies Possesses effective behavioral and classroom management skills Portrays great customer service Possesses strong oral and written communication skills All LiFT employees must pass a level 2 background check.
