This educator provides small-group and individualized structured literacy instruction while also serving as a school-wide resource for best practices in reading development, data-driven instruction, and multisensory literacy strategies. The position requires deep expertise in structured literacy, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to empowering neurodiverse learners. Duties and Responsibilities Deliver explicit, systematic, multisensory reading intervention using evidence-based structured literacy programs. Conduct formal and informal literacy assessments to identify student needs and skill gaps. Develop individualized intervention plans targeting phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Provide small-group and one-on-one instruction aligned with IEP goals and student learning profiles. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction based on data. Implement appropriate accommodations and assistive technology to support literacy access. Participate in IEP meetings by sharing data, progress updates, and instructional recommendations. Coach teachers in implementing the science of reading and structured literacy practices across grade levels. Model effective instructional strategies in classrooms and during professional learning sessions. Provide feedback, co-planning, and side-by-side coaching to strengthen literacy instruction. Lead or support professional development on decoding, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and multisensory instructional methods. Assist teachers in analyzing reading data and using it to guide instruction and intervention decisions. Collaborate with administrators and instructional staff to ensure school-wide alignment with evidence-based literacy practices. Support literacy within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Support the development and refinement of literacy curriculum, intervention systems, and progress-monitoring tools. Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches Motivate and encourage teachers through on-going feedback Attend weekly administrative meetings to provide updates on performance and collaborate to identify instructional challenges and solutions Participate in professional development opportunities throughout the year Required Skills & Experience At least 5 years of teaching experience in a classroom setting Reading Endorsement Certification Experience in instructional mentoring is preferred Literacy Coach Endorsement is preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills In-depth knowledge of differentiated instruction, best practices and evidence-based instructional strategies for ESE students Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field is required. Master's degree in Reading or related field is preferred. Valid State of Florida Teaching Certificate in the area of ESE Willingness to pursue professional development aligned with the roles and responsibilities of the position.
