Master Teacher/Literacy Coach

Education :

Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) and valid Indiana Language Arts Teacher's license.

Experience:

At least five (5) years of successful Language Arts teaching, leading educator in instructional technology, familiar with open source software platforms, knowledge in technology concepts and tools. Research and provide staff support that will improve literacy teaching and learning

• including: teaching strategies, assessment of math skills, interpretation, and use of assessment results, etc. Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative literacy practices through various activities such as: individual discussions (informal and formal), coaching sessions, demonstration lessons with pre

• discussion/analysis, study groups, staff meetings, and professional development programs.

Develop and oversee the innovative implementation of an interdisciplinary course of study that supports district learning goals and objectives and aligns with state curricular frameworks. Conduct teacher observations and/or walk-throughs and may provide evaluative feedback that facilitates teacher reflection and growth in literacy instruction. Conducts demonstration lessons to ensure that all teachers have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed. Provides on-site staff development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about program components and understand the instructional design of how the program meets the standards (alignment). Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate literacy instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students. Encourage and support the implementation of technology and innovative strategies in the literacy classroom Participate in collaborative grade level meetings to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve the focus of instructional planning and student achievement. Assists grade level teams in setting goals for improved instruction and MTSS implementation. Meets regularly with the principal to review benchmarks and established data points to assess student progress towards established instructional goals. Prepare forms, records and reports as directed. Attend meetings and trainings at the building and district level as directed. Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum. Monitor intervention programs by observing and meeting with teachers. Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning. Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers. Attend workshops/conferences to learn about new innovative instructional strategies.
