Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Interventionist to join our team at Viper Elementary. The ideal candidate will work closely with students who require additional support in early reading skills, helping them to achieve their academic goals and foster a love for reading. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on students' literacy development and overall academic success. Responsibilities Assess students' reading abilities and identify areas for improvement through formal and informal assessments. Develop and implement individualized reading intervention plans tailored to meet the needs of each student. Provide targeted instruction in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading interventions into the general education curriculum. Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed to ensure continued growth. Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress, and intervention outcomes. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and suggest strategies for support at home. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in reading instruction and intervention. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages a love for reading and learning. Collaborate with other specialists and staff to support the overall educational goals of Viper Elementary. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, Special Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification or licensure in the state. Experience working with K-3 students in a classroom or intervention setting, particularly in reading instruction. Strong knowledge of reading development and intervention strategies, including familiarity with various assessment tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to support student learning. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing student records and progress. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about current research in literacy education. Passion for helping students succeed and a belief in the potential of all learners.
