They will provide clinical services in our on-campus Communication Disorders Clinic and provide clinical education for students in the Speech-Language Pathology master's program. License/Certification Required NC licensure in speech-language pathology ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologists (CCC-SLP) Description of the Department or Unit The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences includes fully accredited graduate programs in Athletic Training and Speech-Language Pathology, a new graduate program in Occupational Therapy (full accreditation expected in 2026), an undergraduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and minors in American Sign Language and Communication Sciences and Disorders. Our students are trained to empower people of all ages to improve/restore their functional abilities, fulfill their daily routines and roles, mitigate limitations or disabilities following injury or illness, and live full lives in the context of differing abilities. In addition, the department is home to the Charles and Geneva S. Scott Scottish Rite Communication Disorders Clinic, which provides speech, language, hearing, and pediatric occupational therapy services as an outreach to the community and as a primary site for student clinical training. //healthsciences.appstate.edu Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) at Appalachian State University invites applications for a pediatric speech-language pathologist to provide clinical services and provide clinical education to graduate students. The primary worksite is the interprofessional Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness Clinic on the first floor of University Hall in Boone, NC. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Provide clinical speech-language pathology services primarily for children, adolescents (and sometimes adults) with a variety of developmental speech and language developmental disabilities. Provide clinical education for SLP graduate students. Collaborate with other speech-language pathologists and clinicians from other disciplines (occupational therapy, music therapy, social work) in an interprofessional clinical setting. Document service provision according to clinic and payor guidelines. Opportunities exist for employer-sponsored training to expand clinical expertise.
