05/19/2026 This is a full-time professional (teacher's contract) PASD position which is anticipated to begin on August 19, 2026.Responsibilities:
The Elementary Literacy Specialist supports the development of strong literacy skills for all students by providing targeted instruction and collaborating with educators to improve reading and language outcomes. This role integrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening across all content areas to strengthen literacy as the foundation of student learning. The specialist works closely with classroom teachers and school staff to implement effective instructional strategies, analyze student progress, and promote best practices in literacy instruction.Essential Job Duties and Functions:
Provide targeted literacy instruction and interventions to support student growth in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan, implement, and refine evidence-based literacy instruction across all content areas. Model effective instructional strategies and co-teach lessons to support best practices in literacy instruction. Analyze student assessment data to identify learning needs, monitor progress, and guide instructional decisions. Support the implementation of district literacy initiatives, curriculum, and instructional frameworks. Provide coaching and professional support to teachers to strengthen literacy instruction and student outcomes. Assist in the selection and use of instructional materials and resources that support literacy development. Facilitate small-group or individualized instruction for students needing additional literacy support. Promote a culture of literacy through school-wide initiatives and engagement opportunities. Participate in professional learning communities, grade-level teams, and data meetings. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and intervention outcomes. Collaborate with specialists, administrators, and support staff to ensure coordinated services for students. Stay current with research and best practices in literacy instruction and apply them to instructional support. Attend all required meetings and in-services. Acknowledge the Board-adopted mission of the school district and seek to adopt the mission as their own. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Principal.Qualifications:
Must have a valid PA Instructional I/II certification; Reading Specialist certification preferred. Master's degree required. Must comply with the requirements of the Pennsylvania School Code. Proficiency in using Common Core Standards, structured literacy, differentiation of instruction, and utilizing data to drive instruction is required.
