Job Description

Learning Specialist; Fort Worth Looking for Learning Specialist to work with K-12th grade. Flexible weekday availability is required. Hours may vary, with work scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. as needed. This position can vary in hours per week. Great for retired teachers. If you have a warm and friendly demeanor with a passion for coaching struggling students to improve their reading skills, then The Reading Connection is for you. Our idea candidate is a dynamic educator, with a Master's, that has experience working with children in a PreK-12 setting, and has a flexible schedule to see students during and after school hours. The specialist is responsible for working with students on a one-on-one basis based on students' needs in either reading, dyslexia, or executive function therapy. Sessions could be either 45 minutes or one hour, depending on the students treatment plan. The specialist must possess a love for working with learners of all types. This includes students with IDD, as part of our Reading for Life (RFL) program.
Responsibilities, Skills, and Expectations:
Instruct students of all ages, abilities and behaviors in reading, dyslexia, and/or executive function therapies Draw information from assessment reports and create effective and individualized lesson plans Make instructional decisions based on the student's progress, regular running record data, and other qualitative assessment data Implement ongoing reading assessment Create progress reports at the end of each semester Maintain accurate calendar of student therapy sessions Complete and submit a monthly timesheet Flexible hours depending on when sessions are scheduled; specialists will see the same client at the same scheduled time each week Excellent writing skills Computer knowledge: Outlook email, Microsoft Applications, and Google Suites Applications Interpersonal skills Pass a background check
Education & Experience:
Teacher Certification (Required) Master's degree in Education (Required) Prior experience working with and teaching children •Hourly pay rates are dependent on the program assignment. Private Clients, Scholarship Clients, and IDD Reading Program Clients each have a different pay rate due to varied funding sources.
